Sometimes when a group of dudes are so talented at what they do it’s hard to just watch them go somewhat “un-noticed” day by day—that’s kind of the reason I started this thing in the first place. I made this intentionally to support the raw, un-seen, un-discovered, young, talented faces of skateboarding and the subculture that is attached. With skateboarding though comes a lot—music, booze, ladies, partying, et cetera. (Not for all, but I’m not here to argue) Anyways, this unique triad honestly makes some of the most amazing, un-modern sounding tunes that have ever hit my ears, and I’m honestly overwhelmed with how lucky I am that I get to see these guys play so often. As much as they won’t admit it—they’re hippies haha.

Modern day, free willed, free minded hippies, and this I think is what makes them so unique. The fact that three of my close friends can sing in tune, play in tune, and perform so confidently is seriously a gift man.

Kyle Eck, Tony Malacara, and Dan Alvarez are all skateboarders who share a similar passion in making music together. When these three are together, it is as if a revolution is happening right in the living room of Tony’s Apartment, where they often practice.

The three have been in a handful of semi-serious bands, and have all played a large number of shows together all over San Diego County; never leaving anyone disappointed. As of right now, the guys are writing music together and constantly practicing for whatever comes their way. The name of the band is undecided, and they all agree on the fact that “it’s just not that important right now.”

Tony, Dan, and Kyle are my good friends, and I support them with what they do to the fullest extent. I wish every time they “practiced,” (which is really just a jam sesh containing lots of booze,) that everyone could see them. The chemistry is impossible to miss, and the sound that their guitars (and Tony’s bass) make is seriously exciting.

One day in the near future (just like I’m saying about everyone else due to my lagging) you will see an interview with these three. It will be interesting to have three answers to each question, so it will be a pleasure to do, and read.

Anyways… here’s some pictures I took with Anthony (Robles’s) camera a few weeks back at Tony’s house, and at the Civic Center (Pizza Nova) stage.

The guys decided, after a few beers one night, to just head out to the small rock stage in front of Pizza Nova (next to LA fitness and Civic Center) and just plug in, and I of course was ready to go and snap a few pictures. The moral of this short, one sentence story, is that these guys just love to play. They are spontaneous, and simply always down to play their instruments, and make music, and I truly envy each of them for this. Enjoy.
